Seeing & Feeling: Studio Blog
“The Artist sees and feels the dimensions of life that are unseen by others. Her mystical vision transcends the "average" view people have of life. She experiences aspects of people, places and things on a multi-dimensional level. She hears, sees, tastes, smells, feels and intuits…What sets her apart from a Seer is her undeniable purpose to manifest the unseen dimension into physical form…The medium she uses is irrelevant…As she breathes life into the immaterial, her material creation inspires others…The realm she communes with is one that we all know. Her work helps us remember it too.”

Welcome to the Studio Blog! I want to use this space to explore topics related to the past, present, and future of the studio, feature stories about and/or by our students and members, and as often as possible, highlight Portland’s vibrant creative community outside of the studio. Our monthly newsletters will still give brief information about classes, member news, and elevate art and artists we love. This blog is more of a thought experiment—so, glad you’re here.
The quote above is an abbreviated version of the archetype of “The Artist” as described by Rev. Liliana Barzola. I came across this definition in 2018, and it felt very true to me. Maybe it resonates with you as well, or maybe you have your definition of “The Artist.” I find archetypes useful to help me think about who I am in the world.
