Join us for a 1-day exploration of an early American craft, Punch Needle Rug Hooking, also referred to as "Punch Needle". The American origins of this textile art can be traced back to the late 1800s, evolving from early methods of rug making including shirring, reed stitched rugs, yarn-sewn rugs, and traditional rug hooking. In this workshop, Olivia Smith will guide students through the design and construction of a small rug or wall hanging, providing instruction in preparing the frame, using the punch needle tool, trimming and cleaning, and finishing the edges.
