WildCraft--Visible Darning (room 203)

That heirloom sweater, riddled with holes! A favorite pair of wool socks, over-loved and over-worn! Visible Darning is a fun and functional way to mend socks, sweaters and other knitted garments that have worn thin, worn through, or fallen prey to the dreaded closet moth. Participants in this workshop will learn 3 different ways to darn socks and sweaters in different states of disrepair, with attention toward darning in a functional, wearable way. Textile artist, Erin Eggenburg will offer an explanation of darning materials and their use, a hands-on tutorial to practice 3 ways to darn knits, and an explanation of how to choose a particular darning technique. Students will also have time to ask questions about their specific project and ask Erin for advice on repair techniques.
