Judi Paisley

Judi is founding member of both the Studio Practice Class and the studio membership program! She holds a semi-private space within Paisley Studios, and has been working in oil paint on canvas and wood panel for many years. A central theme in her work this year has been light—generated by both nature and humans. As a former basket maker and clay worker, she brings her love of texture to her paintings by building up many layers of marks and color. Often working in a series, her subjects possess a human-like quality even as they resemble trees, birds, or water. Her surfaces contain a presence that is both a record of the artist’s hand as well as something more.
