Shay O’Neil

Shay is a long time member of the Studio Practice Class and has prolific and confident practice that is inspiring to witness. Dedicated to working in her home studio as well as weekly classes, she has developed excellent technical skills and color sensitivity. She works in acrylic on wood in an intuitive manner—beginning with marks and color and then feeling her subject matter into existence using her mind first and then followed by her hand. A birds eye view of her oeuvre includes energetic portraits, figures, flowers, and landscapes. A closer look reveals her bold color combinations, patterns, ethereal blended passages of paint, humor, and thoughtful devotion to the deeper themes in each of her works.
